It is very important for stores to act properly when it comes to their premises. When stores fail to do this, it can result in customers suffering slip and fall accidents. Such accidents can be very harmful.
Recently, a decision was reached in a slip and fall case from Georgia. The case involved a store in Georgia.
Reportedly, on a day in May of 2008, a man was shopping in the store. According to the man, some crushed fruit was located on a portion of the store's floor. The man alleged that he slipped on this crushed fruit and fell. According to the man, this slip and fall accident caused him to sustain a serious injury to his spinal cord.
The man claimed that the store acted negligently in regards to its premises and that this negligence caused this accident. The store was also accused of having destroyed video evidence related to the slip and fall accident.
The man brought a lawsuit in a court in Georgia against the store in connection to the above-mentioned slip and fall accident. The judge in this case ruled that the store was negligent. The judge also ruled that the store did in fact destroy video evidence.
A jury trial was then held to determine what damages would be awarded to the man. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution article which reported this story, the jury recently reached its decision and awarded the man a large monetary judgment.
As this case illustrates, customers can suffer great harm when stores act negligently in regards to their premises. Thus, one hopes that all stores make sure to not commit negligence when it comes to their premises.
